Seven sponsors have signed up to support the ‘Change the Change’ International Conference, one of the year’s main events in the field of climate change. BBVA and Red Eléctrica Española are backing the event as driving forces for Change the Change. However, they will not be the only ones to ensure the conference is possible thanks to their cooperation: Aguas de Añarbe, Global Omnium, Toyota, Tragsa and Trienekens have also taken a stand against climate change.

The conference, which will be held in Donostia/San Sebastián from 6 to 8 March, is the outcome of an agreement between the Basque Government, Spanish Government, Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and San Sebastián City Council. Alongside the backing by the authorities, there is the private sponsorship, led by Iberdrola, which has attracted seven new sponsors.

Change the Change will also be a meeting point for climate-change policymakers and different sectors linked to the environment.  Thus, in parallel to the discussions, San Sebastián’s Kursaal Conference Centre will be the venue for an exhibition area with stands and a networking zone. It will be called ‘Connect for Change’, where delegates will be able to discover the latest trends and innovative processes from the sponsors and partner companies. .

Over three days, the delegates will listen to the experiences of 50 top-tier speakers, specialists on climate change who will discuss and showcase the latest advances in this field. Different ‘Heroes and Heroines of the Planet”, people who are tackling climate change in their respective geographical areas of activity, will also be taking part.

The Change the Change Conference will be the most important event of the first Basque Climate Change Week – Asteklima, which will be run in different locations of the Basque Country from 1 to 10 March 2019. There will an extensive calendar of activities with something for everyone. Iberdrola will also play an active role in Asteklima, with different activities focused on energy use and sustainable mobility, among others, being organised in in Bilbao and Donostia/San Sebastián.

The aim of Asteklima is to rally the public to make a personal commitment to fight climate change, on the premise that any action, however small, makes a difference.
